What is included in the physical assessment test?
The purpose of the physical assessment test is to ensure that the police officer candidate is capable of performing the essential job functions. During the test, extensive baseline data regarding the candidate's physical ability to perform the physical requirements will be obtained, which will qualify legitimate candidates while disqualifying those candidates who do not meet the basic requirements. The test includes medical history, musculoskeletal evaluation, maximum safe lifting ability, and may include job tasks (e.g. climbing a wall, crawling, etc.). The test does not include push-ups, sit-ups, or a run.
