What do I need to install or repair a residential fence?: Fence Permits are required for all fences built, except when repairing or replacing a portion of the fence -- limited to two (2) sections or sixteen (16) feet. Fences may be built up to eight (8) feet in height from the grade on the rear and side yards of the main structure. Fences built in front of the main structure may be built four (4') feet in height. All vision clips, access and maintenance (VAM) requirements must be observed. In no case can a fence or portion of any fence extend past any property line.

1. Do I need a permit for a shed or other accessory building?: Yes, all accessory structures require a Building Permit prior to placement or construction. Accessory structures, such as patio covers, storage buildings, gazebos, arbors, or detached garages, may be built as long as they meet all setback criteria for that lot and zoning requirements. Building materials depend on the size of the accessory building. Please contact Building Inspections to determine setbacks and building materials specific to your situation.

3. How do I register as a contractor to work in Frisco?: Please visit www.friscotexas.gov/contractors for registration requirements. Contractors must ensure their Contractor Registration is valid to work in Frisco and obtain a permit. eTRAKiT provides online access to pay outstanding fees, search by permit number, check inspection result, and request an inspection. All contractors who work in Frisco are required to be registered before permit issuance. 4. Where can I find a building permit application on the website?: Permit applications are required prior to any construction to modify, repair, replace, demolish, or improve an existing structure or to erect, enlarge, or construct any new structure, including signs and pools, and are managed in the Plans and Permits portal.
