Where can I purchase compost and mulch?: Lawn trimmings collected from the city's curbside recycling program are made into Texas Pure compost. A limited supply of bagged compost is available for pick up at our Environmental Collection Center. Citizens are limited to three bags per visit and one pick up per month. Compost is available on a first-come, first-serve basis as supplies last. Pick-up is limited to the first Saturday of every month 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Additional products are available at Texas Pure Products.

1. What items can be recycled?: You can view recyclables online. If you have any questions, please contact Environmental Services.

2. What time of day will the carts be emptied?: The time frame in which carts will be emptied is between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Environmental Services.

The top 5 reasons of missed service:

Cart placed too close to fixed objects - Due to automated arms on the truck, place your bins 3 feet away from any object.
Yard waste in bins - Use brown bags for grass and leaves. Limbs must be bundled with rope or twine into 3-foot stacks, no more than 30 pounds each.
Out of reach - Carts need to be placed at the curb or at the edge of the alley. Lids need to open facing the truck.
Hazardous Waste - Take paints, oils, etc. to the located at 6616 Walnut Street. Read more information about items accepted.
Bulk Pickup - The item left out was too large for the cart. Each area has a bulk pick up day for items that cannot be taken on regular trash days. It is not for excessive trash. You must call and schedule your pick up. If it is just left out, it will not be picked up.

5. Who do I call to report a missed collection?: If you need to report a missed collection, please contact Environmental Services at 972-292-5900.

6. How do I get a trash / recycling cart?: To start services, please contact Environmental Services utility billing at 972-292-5575.

7. Where does my recycling go after it is picked up from my house?: Your recyclables are taken to the Waste Connections Recovery Facility (MRF). If you have any questions, please contact Environmental Services.

8. How can I dispose of used medical needles?: You can dispose of used medical needles in a puncture-proof plastic container. After carefully placing all needles in the container, seal the top with a lid and tape it solidly closed. Place the entire container in a bag. Seal the bag and place in your trash bin for normal pick-up. Examples of containers are sharps containers (attained from your doctor or pharmacist) or a liquid detergent bottle.

9. Who do I call to report a broken or damaged trash / recycling cart?: Contact Environmental Services at 972-292-5900. A repair or replacement will be made within eight working days.

10. My trash cart is missing or stolen, how do I get another one?: If your trash cart was missing, look around your neighborhood (this helps if you write your address on the line provided). If you believe your trash cart was stolen call the non-emergency police 972-292-6010. If there was damage as a result of improper usage, a $73.80 charge will be applied.

11. Can I get an additional trash / recycle cart and is there a charge?: Each trash cart will cost an additional $10.50 per month, plus a $16.30 initial delivery charge.

12. Where can I throw away my extra trash?: You can throw away your extra trash at the Custer Road Transfer Station. If you have any questions, contact Environmental Services.

13. How do I dispose of large items that won’t fit in my cart?: View bulk trash pickup information online. If you have any questions, please contact Environmental Services.

14. Where can I buy paper yard waste bags?: Paper yard waste bags can be bought at local hardware and grocery stores. If you have any questions, please contact Environmental Services.

15. I live in an apartment; where can I recycle?: You may bring recyclable items to the city’s Environmental Collection Center. If you have questions, please contact Environmental Services.

16. Can computers be recycled?: Computers can be recycled. Please view collection information online. If you have questions, please contact Environmental Services.

17. How do I dispose of old paint, pool chemicals, or pesticides?: View the collection services online. If you have any questions, please contact Environmental Services.

18. How do I dispose of tree limbs / fencing?: Cut tree limbs into 3 foot lengths. Tie and bundle with maximum weight not to exceed 30 pounds. Place 3 feet away from your blue recycling cart on your regularly scheduled. Wood pallets and untreated fencing are no longer accepted on regular trash day and are now a part of the Large Item Collection. Collection limited to one pallet or one 6 foot section of fencing per month. Must be free of concrete and dirt.

21. How do I start composting at home?: You can view composting information online. If you have any other questions, please contact Environmental Services.

22. How can I dispose of smoke or carbon monoxide detectors with mercury?: Mercury is a toxic chemical and can be harmful to human health and the environment. If you have items including smoke/ carbon monoxide detectors the manufactures are required by law to accept back their products for proper disposal.
Frisco Environmental Collection Center never accepts items with mercury, if you drop-off items to us without our knowledge it is considered illegal dumping.

23. How do I dispose of fireworks?: Proper disposal of fireworks includes soaking them in water for 24 hours to deactivate the gun powder, then discard in the normal trash.
