[ARCHIVED] Frisco Police Investigate Report of Student with Gun at Frisco Lone Star High School

(November 13, 2019) The Frisco Police Department is investigating the circumstances that led to Frisco Lone Star High School being placed on lockdown early Wednesday morning. On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at approximately 09:14 AM, Frisco Police Officers were made aware of a report that a student from Lone Star was in possession of a gun on the school bus earlier that morning.

The incident was resolved approximately an hour later when Frisco Police located and detained the student that matched the description given by witnesses at a business in the area of Eldorado and FM 423. The student was identified as 17-year-old Gavin Frederick Golden of Frisco.

The preliminary investigation led officers to believe that Golden exhibited a firearm on the school bus. The firearm was later recovered and was determined to be a BB gun that closely resembled a genuine firearm.

Golden was later arrested and charged with Exhibition of a Firearm, which is a 3rd degree felony under the Texas Education Code. A second student, who was with Golden at the time of the incident, was detained but later released as there was no evidence to support any involvement.

Social media reports that gun shots were fired and that students were injured are false. The preparation and partnership between Frisco ISD, Frisco Police, and the community directly led to the quick and safe resolution of this incident.

Anyone with information regarding this offense is requested to contact the Frisco Police Department at (972) 292-6010. They can also send an anonymous tip by texting FRISCOPD and the tip to 847411 (tip411) or by downloading the Frisco PD app available on Android and iOS devices.

Frisco Police PIO’s are available via email at [email protected] or by phone at 972-292-6133.

No other information will be released at this time.
