[ARCHIVED] Frisco Resident Arrested After Police Standoff

(January 31, 2018) On January 31, 2018 at 4:40 PM, Frisco Police responded to a shots fired call in the area of Torrington Dr and Upton Dr. After a brief standoff with police, an adult male subject surrendered and was taken into custody.

Joseph Rooney, a 41 year old male, was arrested for firing several rounds from a firearm into an occupied house. The house sustained some damage due to the gunfire, but no injuries were reported. Once police arrived, Rooney retreated into his house alone with the weapon. Officers attempted to make contact with Rooney while securing a perimeter around the location. Rooney was contacted and after brief negotiations voluntarily surrendered and was taken into custody. Rooney was then transported to the Frisco City Jail on charges of Deadly Conduct, a third degree felony. No bond is set at this time.
