[ARCHIVED] Road Closures within Frisco Square on Sunday for Walk-a-thon

(November 10, 2023) Many of the roads within the Frisco Square area will be closed Sunday, November 12, for the Light The Night walk-a-thon.  The roads around Simpson Plaza will close at 3:30 p.m. and additional roads south of Page St. will close at 5 p.m. All roads will reopen by 8:30 p.m.  During these closures, Frisco Square residents, customers, and those attending the event will need to take alternate routes to their destinations.  The specific closures are described below and shown in the map. [Event Road Closures (PDF)].

Sunday 3:30 p.m.

All of the roads around Simpson Plaza will close at 3:30 p.m. and will remain closed until 8:30 p.m. (see PDF of map).  As a result, there will be no vehicular access to the front of City Hall and traffic will not be able to circulate around the square.  In addition, Coleman Blvd. will only be accessible from the north.  Drivers coming to the event can park in the free municipal parking garage behind City Hall which will only be accessible by approaching it on Page St. (from John W. Elliott Dr. or northbound Dallas Pkwy,).  ADA accessible parking is available on each level of the garage adjacent to the elevator.

Sunday 5:00 p.m.

Additional roads south of City Hall will close starting at 5 p.m.   Page St. at Library St. will be closed, as will Jacobs St., Burnham St., and parts of (South) Library St. and Gordon St. (see PDF of map). This means that drivers headed to the municipal parking garage on Page St. would then be limited to approaching it from the west, as described below.  These roads will reopen by 7:30 p.m. while the roads around Simpson Plaza will remain closed for another hour.

Between 5 to 7:30 p.m., drivers should use Main St. and John W. Elliott Dr. (or Dallas Pkwy. and Cotton Gin Rd.) to access the following facilities:

  • Frisco Public Library
  • Heritage Center
  • Babe’s Chicken Restaurant
  • Residents who live east of Library Street

Also during this time, drivers attending the event should approach the parking garage by using northbound Dallas Pkwy. and turning right on Page St.

As a reminder, drivers can also use the Waze app to navigate around road closures.  Click here to learn about Waze or install it on your smartphone.
