[ARCHIVED] New photo monitoring tool tracks environmental changes at Grand Park

Chronolog location_Grand Park

The City of Frisco Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with Chronolog, an environmental monitoring project powered by citizen scientists, to document the environmental changes at the park.

Chronolog helps organizations crowd-source photos to create timelapse videos. Using a photo station (pictured below), anyone can take photos from a standardized point of view and submit them to be included in the time lapse. These time lapses create new phenological records and identify shifts in seasonal patterns. They’re available to the public for uses such as research, education, and viewing enjoyment.

The Chronolog is located along the main trail at the intersection of the wildflower meadow loop. Visit friscotexas.gov/chronolog for GPS coordinates and to see the up-to-date time lapse.

Next time you visit Big Bluestem Trail at Grand Park, stop at the Chronolog station, pop your phone in the bracket, snap a photo, then email the photo to the address on the sign. You will receive the latest timelapse and the satisfaction of participating in environmental monitoring!
