[ARCHIVED] Traffic Advisory & Road Closures for ACM Awards at the Ford Center on Thursday, May 11

(May 9, 2023) There will be increased traffic and road closures around The Star and Hall Park on Thursday, May 11, due to the Academy of Country Music Awards being held at the Ford Center.  The event traffic will arrive during the evening rush hour so it is recommended that local traffic use Lebanon Rd. as an alternate route to avoid the event traffic on Warren Pkwy.

  • Local traffic should also avoid the intersection of Warren Pkwy. and Dallas Pkwy. later that evening to avoid the planned road closures.
  • Before and after the ACM Awards event, drivers heading to the Roughriders baseball game should use Parkwood Blvd. to approach and leave the ballpark to avoid the increased traffic on Dallas Pkwy.
  • Starting at 7:30 p.m., sections of Warren Pkwy., Gaylord Pkwy., and Dallas Pkwy. will be closed or have turn restrictions in place.

The specific road closures are described below and shown on the map:

Before the Event (2-7 p.m.)

  • At 2 p.m., Gridiron Rd. will be restricted to one-way southbound traffic between Hall of Fame Ln. and Cowboys Way.  In addition, Cowboys Way will be closed to traffic between Avenue of Champions and Gaylord Pkwy.  These closures will remain in place until 11 p.m.
  • By 5 p.m., southbound Gaylord Pkwy. will be closed for the block south of Hall of Fame Ln.; and The Star Blvd. will be closed at Warren Pkwy.
  • To reach the Ford Center, drivers approaching on the Dallas North Tollway should take the John Hickman Pkwy. exit and then turn west onto that road.  Drivers approaching along Preston Rd. should turn west onto Gaylord Pkwy.  Drivers approaching along Legacy Dr. should turn east onto Warren Pkwy. or Lebanon Rd.  You will be directed to one of several parking areas depending on the entrance you use and which parking areas are full.  Click here for maps and directions to parking at the Ford Center.
  • Frisco Station residents who live north of the Ford Center should use Lebanon Rd. and/or John Hickman Pkwy. to drive towards or leave their neighborhood to avoid event traffic and the lane closures south of the Ford Center.

After the Event (7:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.)

  • Shortly after the event starts, various road closures and turning restrictions will start to be put into place around the Ford Center and within Hall Park to maximize the efficiency of traffic leaving the event.  The route you take to exit the area will depend on where you are parked.  The following road closures will impact all drivers in the area (see the PDF of map)
    • Westbound Warren Pkwy. will be closed between Dallas Pkwy. and Gridiron Rd.  Westbound traffic must turn north onto Dallas Pkwy.
    • Eastbound Warren Pkwy. will be closed to through traffic between Internet Blvd. and Dallas Pkwy.  Eastbound traffic must turn south onto Internet Blvd.
    • Westbound Gaylord Pkwy. will be closed at Dallas Pkwy.  Westbound traffic must turn north onto Dallas Pkwy. (and then turn east onto Warren Pkwy).
    • Northbound Dallas Pkwy. will be closed at Gaylord Pkwy.  Northbound traffic must turn east onto Gaylord Pkwy.
    • Southbound Dallas Pkwy. will be closed at Warren Pkwy.  Southbound traffic must turn left (east) onto Warren Pkwy.
    • Northbound Gaylord Pkwy. will be closed to through traffic between Dallas Pkwy. and Warren Pkwy.
    • Northbound Internet Blvd., will be closed at Warren Pkwy.
    • Eastbound John Hickman Pkwy. will be closed between Frisco Green Ave. and Gaylord Pkwy.
  • Rideshare vehicles will pick up their customers in the parking lot in the southwest corner of Warren Pkwy. and Internet Blvd. (see PDF of map).  Rideshare companies will need to approach this lot from the west by using Legacy Dr. and then turning east onto Warren Pkwy.
  •  Frisco Station residents who live north of the Ford Center will not be able to use Warren Pkwy. to reach their homes during this time.  These residents should use Lebanon Rd. and/or John Hickman Pkwy. to approach their neighborhood from the north.

Local drivers are urged to seek an alternate route in advance.  Visitors and residents can use the Waze app to navigate in and out of The Star and Hall Park areas.  The app will provide navigation assistance based on real-time road closure and traffic flow information.
