[ARCHIVED] Frisco Square Parking Blocked Thursday, 9/29, and Streets Closed Friday, 9/30 & Saturday, 10/1

(September 29, 2022) The parking spaces within the center of Frisco Square will be blocked on Thursday, September 29, and various streets within Frisco Square will be closed Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1, to accommodate two special events: the City of Frisco Employee Picnic and Oktoberfest.  The details of each closure are described below and summarized in this map (PDF).

Thursday, September 29
The on-street parking spaces along Coleman Boulevard and around Simpson Plaza will be blocked off beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday morning to allow the special events to be set up.

Friday, September 30
The portion of Simpson Plaza directly in front of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center will be closed on Friday for the City of Frisco  employee picnic. The roads will close at 7 a.m. and will remain closed into the next day for another event.  On Friday, motorists will still be able to approach City Hall and the Public Library from all directions, but they will not be able to drive or park directly in front of the building. Any motorist who circulates around Simpson Plaza will be diverted to circulate around the back of the building where they will have access to the free parking garage. ADA accessible parking is available on each level of the garage next to the elevator.

Saturday, October 1
Coleman Boulevard and all of the roads around Simpson Plaza will be closed on Saturday for Oktoberfest. The additional road closures will start at 6 a.m. Saturday morning and will remain closed all day. Motorists approaching the event on Main Street should turn south on World Cup Way in order to access the free parking garage shown on the parking map (PDF).  Motorists approaching on northbound Dallas Parkway can turn east on Page Street to access the free parking garage behind the Municipal Center.

Frisco Public Library patrons approaching from Main Street should use Frisco Street and John W. Elliott Drive to reach Page Street in order to access the parking garage behind the library and the library drive through lane.  Use northbound Dallas Parkway and turn east on Page Street to reach the garage.

Motorists are urged to seek an alternate route in advance.  All roads will reopen by 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
