[ARCHIVED] Road closures within Frisco Square on Sunday for walk-a-thon

(November 5, 2021) Many of the roads within the Frisco Square area will be closed Sunday afternoon and evening, November 7, for the Light The Night walk-a-thon.  One group of roads will close at 3:30 p.m. and another group will close at 5:15 p.m. as described below and shown in the attached map (PDF).  All roads will reopen at 7:30 p.m.

Roads Closing at 3:30 p.m.

The roads around the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center will be closed between 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. As a result, there will be no vehicular access to the front of City Hall and the Frisco Public Library.  Any traffic circulating around Simpson Plaza will be routed behind the Library and can park in the free municipal parking garage.  ADA accessible parking is available on each level of the garage adjacent to the elevator.

Roads Closing at 5:15 p.m.

Additional roads behind the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center will be closed between 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.  The roads around the block bounded by Page St, Burlington St, Oglethorpe St and Jacobs St will be closed (see attached PDF of map), as will Burnham St and the southern section of Library St.  At this time, access to the parking garage behind the Library will be limited to traffic that approaches it on Page St from the west or from Simpson Plaza from the north.

Starting at 5:15 p.m., motorists should use Main St and John W. Elliott Dr (or Dallas Pkwy and Cotton Gin Rd) to access the following facilities:

  • Heritage Center
  • Babe’s Chicken Restaurant
  • Residents who live east of Library Street

All roads will reopen at 7:30 p.m.

Drivers should plan to take an alternative route in advance.
