Simpson Plaza Closed on Friday, December 4

(December 3, 2020) Portions of Simpson Plaza in Frisco Square will be closed Friday, December 4, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for the setup of a special event.  Drivers approaching the plaza from the west will be forced to travel south on Church St. and drivers approaching from the east will be forced to travel north on Coleman Blvd. (see attached PDF of map).  Drivers will not be able to enter the plaza from the north, will not be able to circulate around the entire plaza, and will not be able to park directly in front of the George A. Purefory Municipal Center.  Any traffic entering the plaza from the west will be diverted to circulate around the back of the building where they will have access to the free parking garage.  ADA accessible parking is available on each level of the garage next to the elevator.

During this closure, drivers approaching City Hall and the Public Library must use an alternate route to reach the free municipal parking garage or the drive-up library book drop-off behind the building.  Drivers on northbound Dallas Pkwy should turn right on Page St.  Drivers on Main St. should turn south on World Cup Way and enter the plaza from the west.

At 5 p.m., Simpson Plaza will reopen to traffic in time for the Frisco Square Holiday Light Show.  (The plaza will close again Saturday evening for the Merry Main Street drive-thru event, the details of which will be described in an upcoming announcement.)

Drivers are urged to use caution in the work zone and consider using  the Waze app to navigate around road closures.  Click here to learn about Waze or install it on your smartphone.
