Several roads will be closed and several lane closures will be implemented on Saturday morning, April 16, for a half-marathon being run in north-central Frisco. The half-marathon will start and end at Toyota Stadium and will close portions of several roadways (such as Dallas Parkway), close a lane on several roadways (such as Preston Road), and will cause delay for traffic on some roads that cross the race course (such as Eldorado Parkway). The details of each road and lane closure are described below and are shown in the attached map. In addition, specific detours are described for those attending youth soccer games at Toyota Stadium and Warren Sports Complex and those living in the neighborhoods along Fisher Drive.
SCHEDULE OF CLOSURES
The lane closures described below will be implemented before 5:00 a.m. on Saturday morning and the road closures will be implemented in stages after that. The roads around Toyota Stadium will be closed by 5:00 a.m., Fisher Drive will be closed by 6:00 a.m., and northbound Dallas Parkway will be closed north of Eldorado Parkway by 7:00 a.m.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to end by 11:30 a.m. As the fastest runners progress through the course in a counterclockwise direction, traffic will begin to be delayed on North County Road at Fisher Drive at about 7:45 a.m., on Eldorado Parkway at Preston Road at about 8:00 a.m., and on Eldorado Parkway at Dallas Parkway at about 8:45 a.m.
Barricades will be removed and roads will be reopened as the slowest runners progress counterclockwise through the course. Therefore, All Stars Avenue will be opened first, followed by Fisher Drive and then Preston Road, etc. All roads will be fully open by noon.
LANE CLOSURES & ROAD CLOSURES
Dallas Parkway
The right lane of northbound Dallas Parkway will be closed between Technology Drive and Eldorado Parkway. This section of the frontage road will remain open to traffic, which will be separated by cones from the runners in the right lane. Motorists should not turn right across the race course at any location that does not have a police officer.
The northbound Dallas Parkway frontage road will be closed between Eldorado Parkway and Rockhill Parkway. Northbound motorists should use the Dallas North Tollway or Preston Road as alternate routes to US 380. Motorists on Eldorado Parkway and Panther Creek Parkway will not be able to gain access to the northbound Tollway unless they turn south on Dallas Parkway, make a u-turn at Main Street, and use the entrance ramp just north of Main Street.
Preston Road
The right lane of southbound Preston Road will be closed between Rockhill Parkway and Fisher Drive. Southbound Preston Road will remain open to traffic, which will be separated by cones from the runners in the right lane. Motorists should not turn right across the race course at any location that does not have a police officer.
Eldorado Parkway
Although no part of Eldorado Parkway will be closed, traffic on this roadway will experience delay where it crosses the marathon route. Eldorado Parkway will cross the marathon route at Dallas Parkway and at Preston Road. Traffic will be controlled by police officers at each of these intersections, allowing vehicles through on Eldorado Parkway when there are gaps in the runners. In addition, motorists on Eldorado Parkway will not be able to turn north onto Dallas Parkway. Through traffic is encouraged to use Main Street as an alternative route.
Frisco Street
Southbound Frisco Street will be closed between Research Road and Main Street. Northbound Frisco Street will be closed between Sports Village Road and All Stars Avenue. Through traffic should use Dallas Parkway or North County Road as alternate routes. Motorists headed to any location north of All Stars Avenue should approach that area from Eldorado Parkway or from North County Road. Motorists headed to any location south of All Stars Avenue should approach that area from Main Street.
All Stars Avenue
The eastbound lanes of All Star Avenue will be closed, but the westbound lanes will remain open. Traffic can only use All Stars Avenue to travel from North County Road to Frisco Street.
North County Road
Traffic on North County Road will experience delay where it crosses the marathon route at All Stars Avenue and Fisher Drive. Traffic will be controlled by police officers between those two intersections, allowing vehicles through on North County Road when there are gaps in the runners.
Fisher Drive
The entire length of Fisher Drive will be closed to through traffic, but two short sections will remain open in a limited way to provide access to the adjacent neighborhoods. One block will remain open to local traffic between Rogers Road and Whispering Pines Drive (providing access only to the portion of Meadow Hill Estates that is south of Fisher Drive). Another block will remain open to local traffic between Preston Road and Briar Brook Lane (providing access only to the portion of Preston Highland Estates that is south of Fisher Drive). In each of these blocks, only one lane will be open and so neighborhood traffic will have to take turns traveling in each direction.
Rogers Road
Rogers Road will be closed between Fisher Drive and Presidio Drive. No detour through a neighborhood from one part of Rogers Road to the other will be possible.
Cobb Hill Drive
Cobb Hill Drive will be closed between Dallas Parkway and Bethel Drive, so Cobb Hill residents should use Eldorado Parkway or Panther Creek Parkway.
DESTINATION DETOURS
Soccer Games at Toyota Stadium & Warren Sports Complex
Motorists headed to youth soccer games at Toyota Stadium or Warren Sports Complex before noon on Saturday should give themselves extra time to travel to their games because of detours and possible delays when crossing the marathon race course.
Motorists headed to Toyota Stadium for youth soccer games before noon must approach the soccer complex from Main Street. Those wishing to park in the Red Parking Lots west of Fields 1-8 must turn north onto World Cup Way and enter the south end of that parking lot. Those wishing to park in the parking lot east of Fields 9-17 must turn north onto Frisco Street and turn left into the parking lot at Sports Village Road when prompted to by the police officer. (Other parking lots will be closed, as will Technology Drive and any access from the north).
Motorists headed to Warren Sports Complex for youth soccer games before noon will encounter delay on Eldorado Parkway and North County Road as they approach the complex. Eldorado Parkway will cross the marathon route at Dallas Parkway and at Preston Road; and North County Road will cross the marathon route at Fisher Drive. Traffic will be controlled by police officers at each of these intersections. (It will not be possible to access Warren Sports Complex using Rogers Road from the south.)
Fieldhouse USA
Motorists headed to Fieldhouse USA before noon must approach from Main Street and use Frisco Street or John W. Elliott Drive. When leaving Fieldhouse USA, motorists must take John W. Elliott Drive south to Main Street.
Neighborhoods of Meadow Hill Estates and Preston Highlands Estates
Residents of Meadow Hill Estates who live north of Fisher Drive will need to enter and exit their neighborhood using North County Road. No access will be possible from Fisher Drive or Rogers Road. Residents of Meadow Hill Estates who live south of Fisher Drive will need to enter and exit their neighborhood using Meadow Hill Drive, Rogers Road, Fisher Drive, and Whispering Pines Drive. (Only one lane of Fisher Drive will be open and so neighborhood traffic will have to take turns traveling in each direction.)
Residents of Preston Highlands Estates who live north of Fisher Drive will need to enter and exit their neighborhood from the north (using Eldorado Parkway). No access will be possible from Fisher Drive or from Rogers Road from the south. Residents of Preston Highlands Estates who live south of Fisher Drive will need to enter and exit their neighborhood using Fisher Drive between Briar Brook Lane and Preston Road. No other access will be possible. (Only one lane of Fisher Drive will be open and so neighborhood traffic will have to take turns traveling in each direction.)
Half-Marathon Participants
Participants of the half-marathon must approach Toyota Stadium along Main Street and turn north on World Cup Way in order to park in the Red Parking Lots west of the stadium.
