Free, COVID-19 saliva testing site to open in Frisco August 3

(July 31, 2020) A COVID-19 saliva testing site will open in Frisco on Monday, August 3 at the Dr Pepper Ballpark, 7300 RoughRiders Trail.  The free, saliva tests will be administered Mondays – Saturdays, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Testing is open to all North Texans, regardless of county or city residency.  However, anyone interested in getting a free COVID-19 test is required to register for an appointment at Frisco registration will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 1. (Please note:  The city/town names of registration sites are not in alphabetical order.)

“There’s no fee or insurance required, and you don’t need to be a Frisco resident.  Anyone is welcome; however, participants must register online to reserve a time slot,” said Battalion Chief Jake Owen, Frisco Fire EMS. “Also, do not eat, drink or use mouthwash 20 minutes before taking a swab collection.  For many folks, this process may be more appealing than a nasal swab.”

The FDA-approved, test is an observed self-collected test. Participants will be provided testing materials and instructions when they arrive at the testing site and the sample collection will be self-administered.  Follow this link for video instructions showing what participants can expect.  

Results will be received within 48 – 96 hours.  The Curative Korva lab reports its test has an 89-percent accuracy rate. ‘Positive’ tests will be reported to county health departments.

The Frisco location is one of three regional COVID-19 saliva testing sites being setup in North Texas.  The Frisco testing site is expected to be operational through the end of August.
