[ARCHIVED] Traffic Advisory: Fireworks Show at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, July 4

(July 2, 2020) There will be increased traffic around Toyota Stadium on Saturday evening, July 4, due to the Freedom Fest fireworks show which starts at 9:30 p.m. Before and after the show, local traffic will experience delay at the intersection of Main Street & Dallas Parkway and should use an alternate route (such as Eldorado Parkway or Stonebrook Parkway) to avoid fireworks traffic between 8 p.m. and midnight. In addition, the following roads will be closed during the rush of traffic after the fireworks show:

  • Cotton Gin Road will be closed underneath the Dallas North Tollway
  • Eastbound Cotton Gin Road will be closed between Legacy Drive and the Dallas North Tollway
  • Northbound, southbound and westbound left turns will be prohibited at Frisco Street & All Stars Avenue
  • Southbound Frisco Street will be closed between Sports Village Road and Main Street (local traffic should use North County Road)

To minimize congestion after the fireworks show, exit routes from Toyota Stadium and Frisco Square will be limited in order to reduce the points where traffic flows try to cross each other (see attached Stadium exits map). Depending on where they park, firework spectators will be directed onto eastbound or westbound Main Street or north to Eldorado Parkway when they leave the Frisco Square/Toyota Stadium area and then should follow the signs to reach the Dallas North Tollway or Preston Road. Even with these procedures in place, drivers should be prepared for the extra time it will take to exit the area since so many people will be leaving at the same time after the fireworks show.

Visitors and residents can use the Waze app to navigate in and out of the stadium area. The app will provide navigation assistance based on real-time road closure and traffic flow information.
