ZA20-0008 Proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendments - Removal of Alcohol Distance/Separation Requirements                                                                  

Description:   Call to Public Hearing: A request to call a Public Hearing to consider possible amendments to Zoning Ordinance Section 3d.02.01, Conditional Development Standards concerning the removal of alcoholic beverage sales distance/separation regulations. 

 City Council called a public hearing directing staff to consider removing the distance requirements for the following type of businesses from certain land uses as noted in the chart below. The City’s current separation requirements complies with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) separation requirements.  The TABC allows local governments to elect to adopt those separation requirements, like the City has done, and it allows local governments that have adopted the requirements to elect to remove them by ordinance. The City is considering removing the distance requirements for future requests by ordinance. This proposed amendment has nothing to do with the provision of liquor stores in Frisco.
