The City provides basic Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) for benefit-eligible employees. This benefit is paid for by the City of Frisco and enrollment is automatic.
Disability leave runs concurrent with other types of leave, such as Family and Medical Leave (FML) or City Leave of Absence (City LOA). For more information, visit the FML and City LOA webpages.

40% of your pre-disability weekly earnings up to $1,500 maximum; payments are made weekly
60% of your pre-disability monthly earnings up to $5,500 maximum; payments are made monthly
Once you are approved for coverage, you will be eligible to collect the employer-paid short term disability insurance benefit on the 15th day after your injury or 15th day of sickness. Your benefit could continue for up to 26 weeks.
You must be disabled for at least 180 days before you can receive the employer paid long term disability insurance benefit payment. If you become disabled prior to age 62, benefits may continue for as long as you remain disabled or until the greater of age 65 or 3.5 years. If your disability occurs at age 62 or above, the number of payments may be reduced.
