Welcome to Frisco Fire Safety Town

Frisco Fire Clown Siren

At Frisco Fire Safety Town we teach children about safety in a fun and interactive environment.  Frisco Fire Safety Town is a community education program of the Frisco Fire Department.   Our safety education classes focus on a number of safety topics, each with the goal of preventing injuries and teaching students how to be safe.  Our programs operate year-round and are always free of charge.  We first opened in January of 2007.  Since then we have welcomed well over 200,000 visitors to our facility! For information about scheduling a school year study trip, call us at 972-292-6350.

Safety lessons start in our educational facility which includes  classrooms, an interactive fire engine, and a safety house.  A realistic living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom are used for children to explore and learn about home hazards, severe weather, fire safety and more.

The fun and learning continue in our outdoor ‘town’, which resembles a miniature Frisco.  The mini-town includes realistic buildings that represent Frisco area organizations, all created at a 5/8th scale.  Among them are scaled homes intermingled with buildings representing local businesses.  There are paved and marked streets complete with working traffic and crosswalk signals, a railroad crossing and a toll booth.

At Frisco Fire Safety Town, we teach children how to be safe while keeping the classes upbeat.  We use hands-on activitieswith all of our programs.  For example, during classes about the importance of seat belts, students drive battery-operated jeeps throughout the outdoor streets of Safety Town. They also ride bicycles following classroom lessons about wearing helmets while cycling.

One of our safety education tools is the CORE Construction/Farmers Insurance Theatre.  The theatre features a typical family room as it would appear 'after the fire.' The melted blinds and soot-covered walls serve to emphasize the damage done by the fire, smoke and heat.  The torn away sheetrock is indicative of the means necessary to locate all possible 'hot spots' while getting a blaze under control.  The sound of a smoke detector and the presence of theatrical smoke make it all seem very real.  A short video presentation coupled with a firefighter who walks the audience throughout the entire hypothetical situation delivers a very impactful safety message.  From the possible causes, to the 9-1-1 call, and finally the extinguishment and investigation of the entire incident, visitors are amazed at what they see and hear.

FFST Nov 07 smallFrisco Fire Safety Town is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   We are located at Frisco Central Fire Station, 8601 Gary Burns Drive in Frisco.  Look for the Safety Town Logo on the building, adjacent to the village.
