Welcome to Frisco Fire Safety Town

Frisco Fire Clown SirenWelcome to Frisco Fire Safety Town, where we teach children about safety in a fun and interactive environment.  Frisco Fire Safety Town is a Community Education program of the Frisco Fire Department.   Our safety education classes focus on a number of safety topics, each with the goal of preventing injuries and teaching students how to be safe.  Our programs operate year-round and are always free of charge.  We are currently wrapping up our second year of programming and are celebrating having over 75,000 visitors experience Frisco Fire Safety Town since opening in January, 2007!

Currently, we are accepting registrations for our  2008-2009 Safety Education Programs for those students in kindergarten through fifth grades.  Although our primary audience are those students in Frisco ISD schools, we have room in our schedules to see students from other school districts along with students in home schools or private schools.

During the school year, our available safety programs consist of:
Kindergarten - Introduction to 911 & Emergency Responders
First Grade - School Bus, Motor Vehicle & Pedestrian Safety
Second Grade - Fire Safety & Burn Prevention
Third Grade - Bicycle & Wheel Safety
Fourth Grade - Severe Weather & Disaster Preparation
Fifth Grade - Internet Safety

Safety lessons start in our Educational Facility which includes  classrooms, an interactive fire engine and a Safety House with a realistic living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom for children to explore and learn about home hazards, severe weather, fire safety and more.

Our outdoor ‘town’ resembles a miniature Frisco complete with real buildings, all created at a 5/8th scale, that represent Frisco area businesses. Among the Safety Town buildings are scaled homes built by the same homebuilders who build Frisco area homes. Intermingled with the home and business buildings are paved and marked streets complete with working traffic signals, a railroad crossing and a toll booth.

At Frisco Fire Safety Town, we teach children how to be safe while keeping the classes upbeat and use hands-on activities wherever possible.  For example, during classes about the importance of seat belts, students drive battery-operated jeeps throughout the outdoor streets of Safety Town. They also ride bicycles after their classroom lessons about wearing helmets while skating or cycling.

FFST Nov 07 smallFrisco Fire Safety Town is open Monday through Friday during normal business hours.   We are located adjacent to the Central Fire Station at 8601 Gary Burns Drive in Frisco.  If your group would like to  schedule a tour or a Safety Education Program, contact us at 972.292.6350.
