Chief Todd V. Renshaw began his law enforcement career in 1983 in Allen, Texas, where he served as a patrol officer, detective, and sergeant. He left Allen after receiving an appointment as Captain of Police in Coppell, Texas.
Chief Renshaw began preparing for his current position as Chief of Police by earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master’s of Science in Criminal Justice Management from Sam Houston State University. He has continued to set high goals for himself and prepare himself for the dynamic needs of a fast-growing city by attending and graduating from the Law Enforcement Management Institute’s Leadership Command College, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (52nd Session), and the FBI National Academy (208th Session).
Not only has Chief Renshaw been a inspirational leader within the Frisco Police Department, he has been an active leader in the community with activities to include Volunteer Youth Sports Coach, Frisco Kiwanis Charter President, Frisco Baseball Association board member, Frisco High School Site-Based Decision Making Committee, Collin County Law Enforcement Academy Advisory Board, and the North Central Texas Council of Government’s Criminal Justice Policy Review Committee.
Since becoming Chief of the Frisco Police Department in 1994, Chief Renshaw has seen the city’s population grow from 11,000 to over 100,000 and the department has grown from 20 officers to approximately 150 sworn members. During Chief Renshaw’s tenure, the Frisco Police Department has been become notably dedicated to partnering with the citizens of Frisco through his community-policing efforts.
Chief Renshaw has implemented a great many community-oriented programs, including: Citizens Police Academy, Citizens on Patrol, Annual Safety Fair, and National Night Out participation. In addition, the department has attained full accreditation status through the Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, an international accreditation organization.
Chief Renshaw lives in Frisco and is married with three adult children.
