Frisco School Resource Officers instruct a one-week “police academy” for junior high students during the summer. Students must submit an application and complete a background check in order to be considered for the academy.
Students get to experience police work hands-on and get to use a radar gun, ride along with officers during simulated traffic stops in training scenarios, learn about police equipment, procedures, and other issues confronting youth. This educational program promotes leadership while building character.
There are eight one-week long academies being offered in 2012 beginning in June and running through August. Interested students should complete a JPA 2012 Application and return the completed application to their respective school resource officer.
