Junior Police Academy

Junior Police CadetsThe Frisco Police Department offers students the opportunity to experience law enforcement first-hand as part of an annual Junior Police Academy (JPA) summer camp program. JPA cadets will learn the basic functions of a police department and have the opportunity to practice what they learn in exercises. The summer academy runs for nine weeks. Each cadet will be placed into a one-week academy class on 'first come, first served' basis.  Cadets will meet members of the Frisco Police Special Operations unit (SWAT), 911 operators, crime scene investigators, jailers and officers who work in the traffic division. JPA transforms the traditional role of the police officer into one of mentor and friend, while encouraging youth to be partners in building a safer community.

JPA is open to students who live in Frisco or attend Frisco ISD. Eligible cadets must be entering 7th or 8th grades. Applications will be considered in order completed paperwork is received and reviewed. Application requirements include parental permission and medical release forms. The Junior Police Academies will be held at Hunt Middle School, 4900 Legendary Drive, in Frisco. Classes run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., with the exception of Fridays, when classes end at noon. JPA is free.
