Drug Abuse Resistance and Education

D.A.R.E. began in 1983 in Los Angeles, CA, and was developed in conjunction with the Los Angeles Unified School District.  The program curriculum (which is frequently updated and reviewed to meet our changing times) covers such topics such as how to say no to peers, taking responsibility for one’s behavior, building self-esteem, and alternatives to drug use.

D.A.R.E. is currently taught in all 50 states and in many foreign countries, with programs/curriculum for parent programs and all school grade levels.  Also, the curriculum consists of 10 weeks of instruction by the D.A.R.E. officer and is delivered to all FISD 6th grade students.

For more information about this program, please contact one of the SRO sergeants at SROSupervisor@FriscoTexas.gov.
