(January 18, 2011) Show some love for your environment. Recycle, donate or safely dispose of your unwanted items around the house at the winter Chunk Your Junk event, happening Saturday, February 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Environmental Collection Center, located at 6616 Walnut St. Entry is allowed from southbound First Street only. The following items can be brought for safe disposal, recycling or donation. In order to reduce idling time, the items are listed in the order which they can be unloaded at the event. Please load your vehicle accordingly:
· Metal and appliances
· Yard waste, limbs, and untreated wood for mulching
· Fencing and other trash
· Cardboard
· Refrigerators
· Styrofoam and plastic bags
· Prescription and over-the-counter medications
· Household chemicals, paint, gasoline, oil, batteries, pesticides
· Computers, monitors, printers, cell phones, television sets, other e-waste
· Old clothes, furniture, books for donation
Fees for recycling televisions and monitors apply during the Chunk Your Junk event.
· $15 fee for television sets
· $10 fee for computer monitors
A $40 Freon extraction fee is also charged for all appliances not tagged ‘Freon-free’. A valid driver’s license with a Frisco address and current City of Frisco water bill will be required for all household chemical, paint, electronic waste, and items requiring Freon extractions. The fees will be applied to your next utility bill. Payment is not accepted at the Environmental Collection Center.
A free paper shredding service will also be on site to safely recycle unwanted documents. There is a four-box limit per household, with box size not to exceed 12" W x 15.5" L x 10.5” H. We cannot accept commercial paperwork.
Show up early! This popular program sponsored by the City of Frisco Environmental Services Division continues to grow in popularity. In order to provide the best service, no vehicles will be allowed in line after 11:30 a.m. to make sure everyone already in line can make it through the drop-off stations by the time the event ends at noon.
