VEHICLE FIRE IGNITES OVERNIGHT HOUSE FIRE

(September 8, 2013)  Frisco firefighters say an early morning house fire was started by a vehicle, which caught fire while parked in a home’s driveway.

The fire happened in the 11000 block of Huntington.  A passerby in the area spotted the fire and called 9-1-1 at 4:06 a.m.  Firefighters arrived at 4:11 a.m. The blaze was reported ‘under control’ at 4:57 a.m.

Residents were home sleeping when the fire broke out.  Firefighters say the car had been in an accident earlier in the day.

“When the vehicle caught fire, flames spread to the eaves of the house and into the home’s two attics,” said Lee Glover, Assistant Fire Chief.  “The damage to the home is heavy.”

Investigators say the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

Five engines, a truck, and an ambulance as well as the department’s Light Air Rehab and Heavy Rescue vehicles responded to the call.

Damage estimates to the two-story home are unknown at this time.  No one was hurt.
