RESIDENTS ASKED TO BAG ‘OVERFLOW’ TRASH, PLACE OUT ON USUAL SERVICE DAY
(February 6, 2011) Residents who missed trash and recycling service last week due to inclement weather are advised to place overflow items in bags for ‘pick up’ this week on their regularly scheduled service day. Items must be contained in plastic bags, tied and placed three (3) feet away from carts.
“Last week’s extreme weather event made it impossible for contractors to ‘make up’ missed service as we have in the past,” said Pippa Couvillion, Environmental Services Manager. “If you missed service last week, we ask you to place overflow trash in bags for pickup. But please put bags out only on your regularly scheduled day -- and not a day earlier. We want to avoid alleyways being filled with scattered trash as a result of animals digging through bags. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” added Couvillion.
Residents who have overflow recyclables may bring those to the Environmental Collection Center (ECC), 6616 Walnut Street, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. or Saturdays, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. The ECC is closed Sundays.
