(August 25, 2011) The Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT)/Dallas North Tollway (DNT) interchange closures scheduled for tonight, Thursday, August 25, include both directions of the Dallas North Tollway near the SRT and the southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road. The DNT closures begin at 9:00 p.m. tonight and the frontage road closure begins at 10:00 p.m. All road closures will reopen by 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The details of each closure are described below:
The southbound Dallas North Tollway main lanes will be closed between SH 121 and Headquarters Drive in Plano. Southbound traffic will be diverted onto the southbound Dallas Parkway frontage road at SH 121 and will be able to re-enter the DNT at Legacy Drive in Plano.
The northbound Dallas North Tollway main lanes will be closed between Headquarters Drive in Plano and Gaylord Parkway. Northbound traffic will be diverted onto the northbound Dallas Parkway frontage road and will be able to re-enter the DNT at Gaylord Parkway.
The southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road will be closed between Parkwood Boulevard and Dallas Parkway. During this closure, southwest-bound traffic will be detoured north on Parkwood Boulevard and then west on Gaylord Parkway in order to reach the Dallas Parkway frontage roads. Headquarters Drive in Plano will be closed between the Dallas Parkway frontage roads so traffic should not plan to use it as an alternate route.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to choose an alternate route in advance.
These road closures are part of NTTA’s interchange construction project which is prompting a series of overnight closures that will occur each weeknight in August. Depending on the contractor’s schedule, a different combination of main lanes and/or frontage roads will be closed each night. Daily updates of each closure are available on www.ntta.org by clicking on “general lane and ramp closures” and the City of Frisco will announce each night’s closure as the information becomes available.
