(March 10, 2011) NTTA’s construction of the Sam Rayburn Tollway/Dallas North Tollway interchange is triggering a series of overlapping tollway and frontage road closures beginning 8:00 p.m. Friday night, March 11, continuing throughout the weekend, March 12-13, until early Monday morning, March 14. The details of each closure are described below and NTTA has provided a map of these closures and the detour routes... view the map.
Southbound Dallas Parkway will be closed between Gaylord Parkway and SH 121 starting at 8:00 p.m. Friday night, March 11. The frontage road is expected to reopen by 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning, March 12. During this closure, southbound traffic on Dallas Parkway will be allowed to enter the southbound Dallas North Tollway just south of Gaylord Parkway, but all other southbound traffic will be directed to turn left onto Gaylord Parkway and use Parkwood Boulevard as a detour. Southbound traffic on the Dallas North Tollway will not be able to exit to SH 121 and should plan to use Legacy Drive or Parkwood Boulevard as an alternate route.
The northeast-bound SH 121 frontage road will be closed between Spring Creek Parkway and Dallas Parkway starting at 10:00 p.m. Friday night, March 11. The frontage road is expected to reopen by 5:00 a.m. Monday morning, March 14. During this closure, detour signs will be posted that divert traffic onto Spring Creek Parkway which takes them south to the Dallas North Tollway. Motorists can then use northbound Dallas Parkway to return to the northeast-bound SH 121 frontage road.
The northeast-bound Sam Rayburn Tollway will be closed at the Dallas North Tollway starting at 10:00 p.m. Friday night, March 11. The highway is expected to reopen by 5:00 a.m. Monday morning, March 14. During this highway closure, all traffic on the northeast-bound Sam Rayburn Tollway will be diverted onto the SH 121 frontage road prior to the Dallas North Tollway and then must use Legacy Drive and Headquarters Drive to continue eastward before being able to re-enter the highway east of Parkwood Boulevard. Detour signs will be posted. Northeast-bound motorists should expect delays during this closure as all northeast-bound tollway traffic will have to pass through a traffic signal at Dallas Parkway.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to seek an alternate route in advance.
