Talent Applications being Accepted for Community Stage at Frisco Freedom Fest 2011

(May 5, 2011) Be a part of the soundtrack for the Annual Frisco Freedom Fest, happening this year on Saturday, July 2. The fun starts at the same time as years past – 4:00 p.m. – and continues until fireworks end at approximately 10 p.m.  Frisco Freedom Fest allows our community a chance to celebrate America’s independence in a fun, family-friendly environment.  We are looking for local, live performers to keep the crowd movin’ and groovin’.

The City of Frisco Communications Department is now accepting applications from performing artists of all ages interested in entertaining on the Community Stage.  The competition is open to anyone who lives in the City of Frisco or who attends a Frisco ISD school. Applicants must be willing to perform for free. We encourage a variety of performers to apply from soloists to bands to dancers. A committee of city employees will score and select performers from those who turn in a complete application. Download an application.

The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Late entries will not be accepted. To be accepted, applications must be completed in full including the biographical information. A DVD copy of a recent performance -- or a url link to view a recent performance posted on the Internet -- must be submitted with the application.

The completed application should be submitted in person to:
City of Frisco Communications Department
Frisco City Hall, 1st floor
6101 Frisco Square Blvd.

Applications may also be faxed to 972-292-5586, or scanned and emailed to dschroer@friscotexas.gov. Faxed entries will still need to provide a DVD copy of a video performance in person by the June 1, 5 p.m. deadline, unless a web link to view the performance is provided.

In addition to the homegrown talent on the Community Stage, Frisco Freedom Fest’s “Party in the Plaza” features a Children’s Expo with euro bungees, jump houses, games and more; a Hometown Hero Exhibit, Vendor Village and Taste of Frisco. Our neighbors at Pizza Hut Park will host an MLS match at 8:00 p.m. between FC Dallas and Columbus Crew. The evening concludes with a spectacular view of one of the biggest fireworks show in all of North Texas!
