Share your ideas for updating Comprehensive Plan

(March 21, 2014) Frisco is planning its future, and you’re invited to help do it. The city is updating the Comprehensive Plan, which will help guide how our community develops in the years ahead.

The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee is leading the effort, which will address a variety of issues, including:

  • Frisco’s transition from a growing city to a city with aging neighborhoods and an aging population
  •
  • Planning for a variety of housing types and sizes
  •
  • Public safety and public health concerns
  •
  • Public transit
  •
  • Water conservation
  •

John Lettelleir, director of Development Services for the City of Frisco, said the committee is eager to hear from residents and businesses, who have fresh ideas about how to make Frisco better.

“It’s very important that we hear from our citizens and businesses - their thoughts, ideas and suggestions in updating our comprehensive plan,” he said. “There is a quote that says, ‘The best way to predict the future is to create it.’ The Comprehensive Plan is the city’s roadmap to creating the future.”

Residents and businesses are encouraged to share their ideas about the future of Frisco. Below are some ways you can make sure your voice is heard:

  • Attend the April 10th Community Open House to join with your neighbors to imagine Frisco’s future. It will take place at the FISD Career & Technology Education Center, 9889 Wade Blvd., from 6 – 9 p.m. A brief presentation at 7 p.m. will explain the plan-updating process.
  •
  • Share your perspectives about Frisco today and what you’d like to see in the future through a quick questionnaire. After submitting your answers, share the link with your neighbors, social groups or colleagues.
  •
  • Plan to attend the May 17 community workshop to envision possible strategies for future development. More information will be posted on the city website closer to the date.
