(May 12, 2011) As part of TxDOT’s widening project, Preston Road will be closed to through traffic between Main Street and Eldorado Parkway Friday night, May 13. The road will close at 7:00 p.m. Friday night and will reopen by 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning, May 14. If weather or equipment problems delay the work, this night time closure might be repeated on Monday or Tuesday night, May 16 or 17. If so, a follow-up announcement will be made.
During this closure, through traffic will not be allowed to travel on Preston Road between Main Street and Eldorado Parkway. However, local access to the businesses located directly north of Main Street will be allowed. Police officers will be located at each end of the closure to assist in directing motorists into and out of the closure. Motorists entering the road closure to access local businesses are urged to use caution as there will be construction traffic in this area.
Through traffic on Preston Road will be diverted west to Frisco Street or east to Coit Road to go around the closure. Detour signs will be posted. Regional traffic that would normally use Preston Road should consider using an alternate route, such as Dallas Parkway to the west or Custer Road to the east.
