Parade features award-winning floats, heroic veterans 

(November 19, 2013) More than a hundred school, civic and business groups marched, danced and floated down Main Street during this year’s Frisco Community Parade. Hundreds more families and friends lined downtown streets to cheer them on.

The event gave many Frisco groups a chance to put their creative energy on parade, designing and decorating floats that were imaginative, inspiring and amusing. See the list below for the award winners or click on Facebook for photos. View a video of participants.

Grand Marshal’s Award – Frisco Style

Parade Judges’ Award – Legacy Christian Academy

Most Creative Award – FISD Transportation

Best Theme-Related Award – Cub Scout Pack 290

The brave sacrifices made by members of the nation’s military forces also were recognized during the parade, which occurs annually on the Saturday before Veterans Day. Frisco residents enthusiastically welcomed Grand Marshal SFC (R) John Wayne Walding, who completed tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star.
