New northbound lanes opening on Independence Parkway; Traffic switch happens Thursday, January 19

(January 18, 2012) The new northbound lanes on Independence Parkway between Main Street and Roach Middle School (north of Eldorado Parkway) will open to traffic on Thursday, January 19.  Over the course of the day, traffic on Independence Parkway will be switched so that north and southbound traffic will flow on opposite sides of the median.

After the switch, motorists should make sure they are turning onto the correct side of the median when turning to go northbound on Independence Parkway.  This traffic switch will also change the traffic pattern at the signalized intersection of Independence Parkway and Eldorado Parkway. Motorists in all directions of the intersection should be aware of the new location of stop lines and medians.

Once the traffic switch is complete, one lane in each direction of Independence Parkway will be closed for a time as the contractor completes sidewalk and median work.

Please use caution in the area as people become accustomed to the new traffic patterns.
