(September 13, 2011) The closures scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, September 13, include the southbound Dallas North Tollway (DNT) near the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT), the northeast-bound Sam Rayburn Tollway near the DNT, the southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road west of the DNT, and Parkwood Boulevard underneath the SRT (one direction at a time). The closures begin at 9:00 p.m. tonight and will end by 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The details of each closure are described below:
The southbound Dallas North Tollway main lanes will be closed between SH 121 and Legacy Drive in Plano. Southbound traffic will be diverted onto the southbound Dallas Parkway frontage road at SH 121 and will be able to re-enter the DNT at Legacy Drive in Plano.
The northeast-bound Sam Rayburn Tollway main lanes will be closed between Legacy Drive and Parkwood Boulevard. Northeast-bound traffic will be diverted onto the northeast-bound SH 121 frontage road just east of Legacy Drive and will be able to re-enter the SRT east of Parkwood Boulevard.
The southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road will be closed between Dallas Parkway and Legacy Drive. Southwest-bound traffic will be diverted south on Dallas Parkway and right on Legacy Drive in order to return to SH 121.
Parkwood Boulevard will be closed in one direction at a time between the SH 121 frontage roads. When northbound Parkwood Boulevard is closed, northbound traffic will be diverted east on the SH 121 frontage road to turn around at Preston Road. When southbound Parkwood Boulevard is closed, southbound traffic will be diverted west on the SH 121 frontage road to turn around at Dallas Parkway.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to choose an alternate route in advance.
These road closures are part of NTTA’s interchange construction project which is prompting a series of overnight closures that will occur each weeknight in September. Depending on the contractor’s schedule, a different combination of main lanes and/or frontage roads will be closed each night. Daily updates of each closure are available on www.ntta.org by clicking on “general lane and ramp closures” and the City of Frisco will announce each night’s closure as the information becomes available.
