(September 7, 2011) The Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT)/Dallas North Tollway (DNT) interchange closures scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, September 7, include the northeast-bound Sam Rayburn Tollway, north and southbound Dallas Parkway, and the southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road. The closures begin at 9:00 p.m. tonight and will end by 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The details of each closure are described below:
The northeast-bound Sam Rayburn Tollway main lanes will be closed at Parkwood Boulevard. Northeast-bound traffic will be diverted onto the northeast-bound SH 121 frontage road at the exit to Parkwood Boulevard and will be able to re-enter the SRT just east of Parkwood Boulevard.
The northbound Dallas Parkway frontage road will be closed between Headquarters Drive in Plano and IKEA Drive in Frisco. Northbound traffic will be diverted east on Headquarters Drive to Parkwood Boulevard in order to continue their journey north.
The southbound Dallas Parkway frontage road will be closed between Gaylord Parkway and the southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road. During this closure, all southbound traffic will be directed to turn right onto Warren Parkway or Gaylord Parkway and then use Legacy Drive as a detour. Southbound traffic on the Dallas North Tollway will not be able to exit to SH 121 and should plan to exit earlier and use Legacy Drive as an alternative route. Residents of Stonebriar Creek Estates will need to use their entrance on Legacy Drive.
The southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road will be closed between Parkwood Boulevard and Dallas Parkway. Southwest-bound traffic will be detoured north on Parkwood Boulevard and then west on Gaylord Parkway to reach Dallas Parkway. Traffic needing to go north on Dallas Parkway or the Dallas North Tollway can turn right onto Dallas Parkway, but all other traffic will have to continue west on Gaylord Parkway and follow the detour signs to Legacy Drive in order to return to SH 121 or southbound Dallas Parkway.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to choose an alternate route in advance.
These road closures are part of NTTA’s interchange construction project which is prompting a series of overnight closures that will occur each weeknight in September. Depending on the contractor’s schedule, a different combination of main lanes and/or frontage roads will be closed each night. Daily updates of each closure are available on www.ntta.org by clicking on “general lane and ramp closures” and the City of Frisco will announce each night’s closure as the information becomes available.
