Hop on over for Two City of Frisco Events Filled with Springtime Fun

Easter Eggstravaganza is April 9 at Pizza Hut Park;
Aqua Egg Hunt happens April 16 at the Frisco Athletic Center Indoor Pools

(April 4, 2011) Grab your Easter basket, pack the camera and don’t forget to wear a smile because photo opportunities abound at two egg-cellent events presented by the City of Frisco Parks and Recreation Department.

On Saturday, April 9, a collection of 60,000 eggs will cover fields 9 – 14 at Pizza Hut Park like a pastel-colored quilt for the 19th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza.  Pizza Hut Park is located just east of the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Main Street. The fun gets started at 1:00 p.m. and continues until 4:00 p.m.  The free egg hunt starts at 2:00 p.m. sharp for children, ages 12 and younger. Children should line up on the outside boundary lines of their age-specific field 10 minutes before the egg hunt starts. To be fair to all participants, children are not allowed on the field until the hunt starts, and parents are asked to not pick up the eggs for their children.

The event and parking map shows the location of each field and its corresponding egg hunt age group: field 9 (ages 2 and younger); field 11 (ages 3 & 4); field 12 (ages 5 & 6); field 14 (ages 7 to 12).  No strollers will be allowed on the fields, but there will be a stroller check-in.

Children should check their eggs before they leave the event. An egg with a number on it should be taken to the performance area, located on Field 10, to claim a prize. Field 10 will feature the Parks and Recreation Summer Open House, where you can learn about fun classes and programs for the entire family and summer camps for the kids. Instructors will provide demonstrations. Face painters, bounce houses, games and photos with the Easter Bunny are also part of the activities.

Kids three and older who are feeling crafty are invited to enter the Easter Bonnet Contest. Contestants wear your homemade bonnet and check in at the performance area on Field 10 before 1:30 p.m. Judging begins at 1:45 p.m., and prizes will be awarded in four age categories. Please review the complete list of contest rules at FriscoFun.org.

On Saturday, April 16, kids can dive into more egg hunt fun at the Aqua Egg Hunt, happening from 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. at the Frisco Athletic Center, 5828 Nancy Jane Lane. Kids, ages 2 ½ to ten, are invited to swim and hunt for prize filled eggs.  Admission is $12 ($15 for non-residents) and includes ‘the hunt’, a day-long swim pass and a treat from the Easter Bunny.  Pre-registration is required and available online at FriscoFun.org – or in person at the Frisco Athletic Center.  Registration ends April 14.  Bags are provided for participants to collect the eggs in the pool, but remember to bring your own basket or bag to take your treasures home. The approximate egg hunt times and rules are also listed on FriscoFun.org.
