Frisco Man Charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

(June 29, 2009) On Sunday, June 28, 2009, at 11:24 p.m., Frisco Police units responded to the 6500 block of Winston Dr. in Frisco in regards to a male subject that family members felt was a danger to himself or to others. The subject was at home alone and family members wanted police to check on his welfare.

Frisco Police officers attempted to make contact with the subject, Paul Clarence Bailey (W/M, 56YOA), at the location. An officer observed Bailey inside the residence and saw Bailey point a handgun towards the officers. Bailey fired the handgun towards the officers that were at the front door. Officers did not return fire but backed away from the residence. No officers were injured as a result of the gunshot. The Frisco SOU team was called to the location and the situation was handled as a barricaded person. After negotiations Bailey surrendered and was taken into custody at 3:52 a.m.

Bailey was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a $10,000.00 fine. Bailey’s bond has been set at $20,000.00.
