(July 3. 2013) Join your neighbors in wishing our country a giant 'happy birthday' at Frisco Freedom Fest tomorrow - dance to great bands, snack on delicious food and watch a spectacular fireworks display!
Frisco Freedom Fest 2013 will take over Frisco Square's Simpson Plaza beginning about 4 p.m. on Thursday. All the favorites are back for the 11th edition of the popular festival: Party in the Plaza, Community Stage, Children’s Expo, Taste of Frisco and Hometown Heroes. Be sure to come early and bring a big appetite, but don’t plan to leave until the last boom lights up the sky.
Children’s Expo will offer thrilling chances to fly high for freedom, along with a variety of more tame activities for the youngest patriots. A new attraction sure to please this year: a zip line! Our Children's Expo also will feature two bungees, a rock-climbing wall and bounce house inflatables. You can also expect face painters, crafts and games.
will feature a variety of talented local musical and dance performers. Get ready to cheer for returning favorites, such as Hailey Pickett, Cutta C and Dallas Wayde, as well as an exciting mix of Freedom Fest first-timers. About an hour before fireworks light up the sky, famed rock & roller Rick Derringer
will fire up the crowd with a great mix of old favorites. Derringer is best known for his role as a guitarist, vocalist and producer of such hits as "Hang On Sloopy," "Free Ride" and “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo.”
The fireworks kick off after the FC Dallas game ends, about 10 p.m. Entrance to the festival and many attractions are free. The price of food and other attractions varies. View maps for details about parking and road closures.
