(June 16, 2009) All pools – with the exception of the outdoor play pool - at the Frisco Athletic Center (FAC) are closed until tomorrow, Wednesday, June 17. The outdoor play pool will remain open for extended hours until 8:30 p.m. tonight. All pools will reopen tomorrow at regularly scheduled times, which vary and begin at 5 a.m.
The closures are necessary while staff sanitizes the pools. The larger, outdoor pools were contaminated earlier today when a child became ill during swim lessons.
“Our patrons’ safety is our top priority,” said Steve Walsh, Recreation Facilities Manager. “In order to provide a safe, sanitary environment for our members and guests, we decided to ‘super chlorinate’ our swimming pools and it takes time for the chemicals to treat the contaminants and return to a safe level.”
City staff reminds you to stay home if you or a family member is sick, as recommended by the Centers for the Disease Control.
