Mandatory restrictions of Frisco’s Water Management Plan begin July 1; City Waterwise program offers new weekly watering recommendations to guide residents
(June 30, 2009) The City of Frisco wants to remind residents that mandatory water restrictions for summer months take effect, Wednesday July 1. 
Under the new Water Efficiency Plan, outdoor watering is restricted to two days per week during the summer months and is based on residents’ trash and recycling service schedule and an additional, designated day...  see the map.


City of Frisco July 4 Weekend Holiday Hours
(June 30, 2009)  In observance of Independence Day, the City of Frisco government offices will be closed on Friday, July 3. Regular hours resume Monday, July 6. Read more for closings or special hours for other city facilities.


Frisco Man Charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
(June 29, 2009) On Sunday, June 28th, 2009, at 11:24 PM, Frisco Police units responded to the 6500 block of Winston Drive in Frisco in regards to a male subject that family members felt was a danger to himself or to others.


Frisco Police Arrest McKinney Man for Attempted Murder
(June 22, 2009) On Friday, June 19, 2009, at 9:00 p.m., Frisco Police units and Frisco Fire units responded to the 15000 block of Appaloosa Drive in Frisco in regards to a shooting that had just occurred.


NBA League Development Team Comes to Frisco; Colorado 14ers to Move Operations 
The following information provided by NBA Communications:
FRISCO, TX - June 18, 2009 – Texas D-League Management, LLC, has purchased the Colorado 14ers and will relocate the team to Frisco, Texas, it was announced today by NBA Development League President Dan Reed.  The team will begin play in Frisco at the Dr. Pepper Arena for the 2010-11 season.


Extended Hours Tonight for Outdoor Play Pool at Frisco Athletic Center; All other Pools Closed for Cleaning
(June 16, 2009) All pools – with the exception of the outdoor play pool -- at the Frisco Athletic Center (FAC) are closed until tomorrow, Wednesday, June 17. The outdoor play pool will remain open for extended hours until 8:30 p.m. tonight. All pools will reopen tomorrow at regularly scheduled times, which vary and begin at 5 a.m. 
The closures are necessary while staff sanitizes the pools. 


Frisco Police Participate in "Click It or Ticket"
(June 12, 2009) Frisco Police Officers participated in the Click It or Ticket Campaign this Memorial Day holiday week. Officers worked extra duty hours to enforce the seat belt law starting May 18 and continued through May 31. 


Special Tree Debris "Pick Up" Service to start June 22
(June 11, 2009) A free, special storm debris ‘pick up’ service will start Monday, June 22 and end on Friday, June 26 for Frisco residents, only. Service is restricted to trees and limbs, limited in size, only.  No fencing or tree stumps will be accepted.


Eastbound Lanes of Lebanon Road now Open to Traffic between FM 423 and Village Boulevard
(June 4, 2009) The new eastbound lanes on Lebanon Road are now open between FM 423 and Village Blvd.  Eastbound and westbound traffic are now flowing on opposite sides of the median.  Traffic turning onto Lebanon Road from any side street should pay special attention to be sure they are on the correct side of the median.  Northbound traffic on Teel Parkway should pay special attention to be sure they stop further back at the new stopline for the traffic signal at Lebanon & Teel.


Next "Coffee with the Mayor" to be Held at NTEC, Inc. June 8
(June 3, 2009) Learn more about Frisco’s emerging med-tech industry while you enjoy a cup of ‘Coffee with the Mayor”. On June 8 at 8 a.m., Mayor Maher Maso’s “Coffee with the Mayor” moves to the North Texas Enterprise Center for Medical Technology (NTEC), located at 6170 Research Rd.


Town Hall Meeting to be held Monday, June 1; Higher Education, Denton County Local Option Election and Storm Water Fee to be Discussed
(May 28, 2009) Higher education, the Denton County Local Option Election and the new storm water fee are among the topics to be discussed at a Town Hall meeting on Monday, June 1. The meeting will be held in the City Hall council chambers of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 6101 Frisco Square Boulevard. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and wraps up at 9 p.m. The first 100 residents who attend the Town Hall meeting will receive a free ‘Frisco’ aluminum water bottle, which is an eco-friendly product.


Frisco Resident Charged With Injury to a Child After Child’s Death

May 26, 2009) On Saturday, May 23, 2009, at approximately 11:19 a.m., Frisco Fire and Police units were dispatched to the 8400 block of Preston North in reference to an unresponsive 16 month-old male child.


Frisco Police Arrest Residents on Drug Charges
(May 26, 2009) The Frisco Police Department arrested Leonid A. Demine (W/M, 34 YOA) and Elizabeth Ann McClellan (W/F, 24 YOA) on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, following a tip from Dads and Mad Moms Against Drug Dealers (DAMMADD). DAMMADD is a non-profit organization that pays cash rewards for information that leads to arrests and convictions in drug cases.


Memorial Day Ceremony Happening at Frisco Commons Park May 25
(May 22, 2009) The VFW Post 8273 and the Frisco Garden Club welcome Frisco residents to attend the annual Memorial Day ceremony at Frisco Commons Park, 8000 McKinney Rd., at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 25. The event will include a flag ceremony, the presentation of the Memorial Day wreath, patriotic music by the Frisco Community Band and the Frisco Chorale. Military vehicles and equipment will also be on display.

Section of Panther Creek Parkway Closed Tuesday, May 12
(May 11, 2009) The closure of Panther Creek Parkway previously scheduled for Monday, May 11, has been postponed a day due to the rain. 
On Tuesday, May 12, Panther Creek Parkway will be closed at Preston Road as part of TxDOT’s widening project.  The street will close at 9:00 a.m. and is expected to reopen at 4:00 p.m.


Council to Appoint Residents to Serve on Charter Review Commission; May 14 Deadline
(May 7, 2009)  The Frisco City Council calling on residents to serve on a ten member
Charter Review Commission (CRC). Frisco’s first city charter was adopted in 1987 and revised in 2002.


Segments of Northbound Dallas North Tollway Closed Saturday Morning for MS 150 Bike Race 
(May 1, 2009) Segments of northbound Dallas Parkway (and other roads) will be closed Saturday morning, May 2, for the “MS 150” bicycle race.  The race starts at Frisco's Dr Pepper Ballpark and travels north on Dallas Parkway to US 380.  Between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., the following roadways will be closed... read more.


Utility Crews to Clear Natural Gas Line Thursday, April 23 
(April 21, 2009)  On Thursday morning, April 23, Atmos utility crews will be clearing (or flaring) a 16-inch natural gas pipeline. The flaring is necessary to relocate the pipeline on south Custer Road, between Eldorado Parkway and S.H. 121. As a result, residents and passersby may see a large flame (or ‘flaring’) approximately 50 feet high -- and hear a loud noise.  


Double Shooting Leaves Two Dead 
(April 11, 2009) On Saturday, April 11, 2009, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Frisco Police and EMS personnel responded to the 9100 block of Apollo Court in Frisco in response to a report of a male subject with a gun inside a residence. There was reportedly a female subject also in the residence that was at risk.


Frisco Adopts New Water Management Plan; Outdoor Watering Restricted to Two Days per Week During Summers 
(April 8, 2009) The City of Frisco has new, mandatory water restrictions for summer months which emphasize watering efficiently and reducing waste.   Tuesday, April 7, the Frisco City Council approved the plan.  This new plan is now in effect and encompasses a Drought Contingency Plan and a Water Efficiency Plan.  Under the new Water Efficiency Plan, outdoor watering is restricted to two days per week during summer months of July, August and September. It iis based on residents’ trash and recycling service schedule and an additional, designated day.


Crews Cap Gas Line Leak; Intersection of Eldorado Parkway and F.M. 423 Reopened to Traffic
(March 31, 2009) Crews have stopped a gas line leak on the south side of Eldorado Parkway; and the section of that roadway, between F.M. 423 and Wal-mart Drive, is now open to traffic.


Frisco Celebrates Earth Day with 'Clean It and Green It' and 'Chunk Your Junk' on Saturday, April 25 
(March 23, 2009) Join the Frisco Green Team for our city-wide clean up event “Clean It and Green It” on Saturday, April 25, in the IKEA parking lot, 7171 IKEA Dr.  This is a program which promotes environmental awareness in our city, increases volunteerism, and helps keep Frisco beautiful.


Injured Bob Cat Captured; Animal Control Officers Remind Residents Traps are Illegal and may Injure People, Pets
(March 23, 2009) Animal control officers remind residents that setting metal traps to catch unwanted wildlife is illegal within city limits and may result in injuries to people and pets, as well. Shortly after 9 a.m. yesterday morning, March 22, dispatchers were alerted an injured bob cat was in the alley of the 4100 block of Freedom Lane. Animal control officers were called and they were able to capture the injured bob cat.


City of Frisco Sponsors Two Egg-cellent Events Celebrating Spring 
(March 19, 2009)  Celebrate spring by attending two EGG-cellent events featuring the largest egg hunt in Texas – plus an indoor pool and prize filled eggs!  This year, the 17th annual Easter Eggstravaganza moves to Pizza Hut Park where 60,000 candy-filled eggs will dot fields 9 – 14 on Saturday, March 28. 


Animal Control Offers Tips to Help Keep Families, Pets Safe from Wildlife 
(March 12, 2009) As new businesses and homes continue to develop throughout Frisco, wild animals – including bob cats and coyotes – are being displaced and may seek shelter and food in our neighborhoods.  Recently, residents reported seeing a bob cat in a neighborhood located west of the Dallas North Tollway and North of Main Street.

Section of Coit Road Between Main Street and Eldorado Parkway Closed Due to Major Accident 
(February 12, 2009)  Coit Road – between Main Street and Eldorado Parkway – is closed in both directions following a major, single vehicle accident involving a cement truck.

(February 9, 2009) Still looking for that perfect Valentine’s Day present? Why not give the gift of a clean garage and green environment? The winter Chunk Your Junk will be held on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Public Meeting about Preston North Park
(February 6, 2009) The Frisco Parks & Recreation Department will hold a public meeting to discuss renovations to Preston North Park (the City of Frisco's neighborhood park / playground area that is located at 5400 Preston North Dr., within Preston North Estates). The meeting date and time are Monday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at Spears Elementary School, located at 8500 Wade Blvd., Frisco, TX 75034.


No Trash, Recycling Services Wednesday Due to Weather 
(January 28, 2009) There will be no trash and recycling services today, due to weather.  Homes scheduled for trash collection today, Wednesday, January 28, will be serviced on Saturday, January 31.  Thursday and Friday trash collections will remain as scheduled. No other routes are affected.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. 


Frisco Athletic Center, Senior Center and Library Closing Early Due To Weather
(January 27, 2009) The Frisco Athletic Center (FAC), Senior Center @ Frisco Square and Frisco Public Library will close early this evening, due to the inclement weather. 


Candidate Filing Begins February 9 for Two City Council Seats
(January 23, 2009) Candidates interested in running for Frisco City Council may file for a place on the May 2009 ballot, beginning Monday, February 9.  The last day to file for Frisco City Council is Monday, March 9.  Two seats, including Places 1 and 3, will be open.   All positions on the Frisco City Council are “at large” positions.  Candidates must reside in the City of Frisco one year prior to filing.


Connection to Eldorado Parkway Closed for Two Weeks
(January 23, 2009) On Monday, January 26, Hawk Creek Drive will be closed at Eldorado Parkway for two weeks as part of TxDOT's widening project east of F.M. 423.  The street is expected to reopen by Monday, February 9, weather permitting.


Frisco Police Charge Allen Man with Vandalism
(January 13, 2009) Frisco Police have filed charges against an Allen man for Criminal Mischief stemming from the incidents where jars of spaghetti sauce were used to damage residences and vehicles.


Closure On Dogwood Street During Reconstruction
(January 8, 2009)  One lane of  is closed for reconstruction. The street is operating as a one-way roadway in the northbound direction for the next several months.


Frisco Debuts New, Integrated Document Management System; Video Streaming of Council Meetings, Programs Now Accessible Online
(January 6, 2009) In Frisco, the ‘missing link’ takes on new meaning with the evolution of the city’s new, integrated document management system.  Improved, easier access to Frisco City Council agendas, minutes and -- for the first time ever – online access to televised council meetings is now just a link away at www.friscotexas.gov.


City Crews Working into the Night to Repair Sewer Line Leak
(December 29, 2008) City of Frisco employees are working into the night to repair a 24” sewer line break, more than six feet underground and located under the elevated portion of the southbound Dallas North Tollway service lane -- just south of Cotton Gin Road and north of the railroad tracks.  As a result, raw sewage from the main spilled directly into Stewart Creek.  At approximately 8 p.m. tonight, city crews stopped the flow of raw sewage spilling into the creek.  


UPDATE: Southbound Preston Road Closed at John Hickman Following Accident at Warren and Preston Involving Traffic Signal 

(December 20, 2008) Southbound Preston Road is now closed at John Hickman following a single truck accident at Preston Road and Warren Parkway that damaged traffic signals and the poles that support the signals. Emergency crews are at the scene making repairs.  Officials estimate it will be 10 p.m. before the intersection is reopened.

(December 20, 2008)  The intersection of Preston Road and Warren Parkway is closed following a single truck accident that damaged two traffic signal poles. Emergency repair crews are headed to the scene.


Motorcycle Crash Kills Passenger 
(December 19, 2008) At approximately 3:31 a.m., Frisco Police and Fire units responded to a reported major accident on Inlet Street at Harbor Road. Witnesses stated a black 2008 Yamaha motorcycle with two male subjects on board had been traveling eastbound on Harbor at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop.


Holley Named New Director of Frisco Public Library; Assumes New Role January 3, 2009 
(December 18, 2008)  Following a three month search, a familiar face is the next leader of the Frisco Public Library. Shelley Holley, Assistant Library Director and Head of Public Services, has been named the new Director of the Frisco Public Library following the announcement earlier this year that Dr. Ron Heezen is retiring in January.  


Frisco Police Officers Arrest Suspected Bank Robbers
(December 16, 2008) Frisco Police have arrested three individuals and will charge them with Robbery. The three were arrested on warrants stemming from robberies of two Frisco Banks in recent weeks. 


2009 Daddy Daughter Dance Tickets on Sale January 10
Ticket sales for the 2009 Daddy Daughter Dance will begin Saturday, January 10 at 8:00 a.m. for both Frisco residents and non-residents. This year’s “Enchanted Forest” dance will be held at the Frisco Conference Center located at 7600 John Q. Hammons Drive on February 7.  Dance tickets are $12 each (both daddy and daughter need to purchase a ticket to get into the dance). Tickets may be purchased at the Frisco Athletic Center or online at FriscoFun.org


18th ANNUAL FRISCO MERRY MAIN STREET HAPPENS TOMORROW NIGHT, DECEMBER 6; FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE AVAILABLE FROM STALEY MIDDLE SCHOOL TO FRISCO SQUARE
(December 5, 2008) Thousands of twinkling lights, more than a dozen family-friendly activities, three stages of holiday music from Frisco I.S.D. choirs, and one jolly guest from the North Pole – it all adds up to festive night of fun in Simpson Plaza at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center and Frisco Square.  The 18th Annual Merry Main Street is an hour longer this year with the celebration starting at 5 p.m. and ending at 9 p. m. Frisco Launches First 'Congress of Neighborhoods'; City Recruiting Residents to Participate 
(November 26, 2008) Congress isn’t just for Capitol Hill anymore.  The City of Frisco is recruiting residents to participate in its first 'Congress of Neighborhoods' on Saturday, December 6. The meeting will be held at The Depot at Frisco Heritatge Center, 6455 Page St. , and starts at 9 a.m.


Frisco Police Respond to Bank Robbery at Compass Bank
(November 26, 2008) On Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at approximately 1:06 p.m., Frisco Police Officers responded to Compass Bank, located at 8860 FM 423, in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. 


Burglars Target Flat Screen Televisions
(November 21, 2008) Burglars have been targeting area businesses in Frisco and surrounding cities in recent weeks. The suspects are stealing flat screen televisions. Eighteen Frisco businesses have been victimized since October 1.


City Offers 'Tips' for Tackling Rodents as Temperature Drops
(November 11, 2008)  The City of Frisco offers residents ‘tips’ for tackling rodents in neighborhoods -- and reminds homeowners it’s common for neighborhood rodent populations to rise as temperatures drop.


Frisco Approves $75.2 Million Budget; Keeps Same Tax Rate of .45
(September 17, 2008) For the third consecutive year, the City of Frisco’s tax rate will stay the same at .45 per $100 of property value. On September 15, the Frisco City Council unanimously voted to adopt the .45 tax rate and a $75.2 million budget for FY 09, as recommended by city staff.  Fiscal year 2009 (FY 09) begins October 1, 2008 and ends September 30, 2009.
