(February 11, 2011) You can get your hands dirty reeling in a big catch or show off your stylish side walking the red carpet. Some daughters and dads can do both, if they choose, at two kid-friendly events happening tomorrow, February 12, presented by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Saturday morning, the Trick-a-Trout Kid Fish gives anglers ages 16 and younger the chance to fish for the first time or to sharpen their fishing skills at Frisco Commons, located at 8000 McKinney Road. The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and runs until 11:00 a.m. More than 3,100 Rainbow Trout will be released in the Commons pond, which is located north of the main park pavilion.
Participants will need to bring their own bait and tackle. The first twenty-five kids to catch a trout will receive a rod and reel combo set. Open season for adult anglers will start at 11:00 a.m. Anyone 17 years old and older is required to have a Texas fishing license. You can purchase a fishing license at most sporting goods stores. Park hours are from dawn until dusk. For more information call 972-292-6500, or visit FriscoFun.org.
Saturday afternoon, young starlets, ages 4 through 12, will be treated to ‘Hollywood Glitz and Glam’ when their "leading man‟ escorts them past a pool of paparazzi, to attend any one of four dances being offered for the 15th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance. Dances are being held in the ballroom of the Frisco Conference Center, located at 7600 John Q. Hammons Dr. (next to the Dr Pepper Arena).
Currently, tickets to the 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. dances are sold out. A limited number of tickets to the 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. dances is still available to purchase at the Frisco Athletic Center (FAC), 5828 Nancy Jane Lane. Currently the online registration system for FriscoFun.org is not working, and you will have to come in person to the FAC. All tickets previously purchased online must be picked up at the FAC by 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, February 11.
Tickets are $15 per person, per dance. There are no refunds, exchanges or ticket replacements. Daddies and daughters will only be allowed entrance during the time slot for which they bought a ticket.
Free parking is limited at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Frisco Conference Center. A free shuttle service will be provided from parking lot G at Stonebriar Centre mall (north side, between Nordstrom and Dillards). Embassy Suites Hotel is also offering an exclusive room rate for families marking this special occasion.
