(September 29, 2011) The Sam Rayburn Tollway/Dallas North Tollway interchange closures scheduled for tonight, Thursday, September 29, include northbound and southbound Dallas Parkway and the southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road. The closures begin at 9:00 p.m. or 10:00 p.m. tonight and will end by 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The details of each closure are described below:
The northbound Dallas Parkway frontage road will be closed between SH 121 and IKEA Drive starting at 10:00 p.m. During this closure, northbound traffic will be diverted onto the northeast-bound SH 121 frontage road to Parkwood Boulevard to continue their journey north.
The southbound Dallas Parkway frontage road will be closed between Gaylord Parkway in Frisco and Headquarters Drive in Plano. The segment south of SH 121 will be closed starting at 9:00 p.m. and the segment north of SH 121 will be closed starting at 10:00 p.m. During this closure, all southbound traffic will be directed to turn right onto Warren Parkway or Gaylord Parkway and then use Legacy Drive as a detour. Southbound traffic on the Dallas North Tollway will not be able to exit to SH 121 and should plan to exit earlier and use Legacy Drive as an alternative route. Residents of Stonebriar Creek Estates will need to use the entrance to their neighborhood on Legacy Drive.
The southwest-bound SH 121 frontage road will be closed between Parkwood Boulevard and the southwest-bound SRT exit ramp to Legacy Drive. Southwest-bound traffic will be detoured either north or south on Parkwood Boulevard depending on their destination. Traffic needing to go north on Dallas Parkway or the Dallas North Tollway, should go north on Parkwood Boulevard and then west on Gaylord Parkway. Traffic needing to continue southwest on SH 121 or the Sam Rayburn Tollway, or to go south on Dallas Parkway or the Dallas North Tollway should go south on Parkwood Boulevard to Headquarters Drive and follow the detour signs.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to choose an alternate route in advance.
These road closures are part of NTTA’s interchange construction project which is prompting a series of overnight closures that will occur each weeknight in September. Depending on the contractor’s schedule, a different combination of main lanes and/or frontage roads will be closed each night. Daily updates of each closure are available on www.ntta.org by clicking on “general lane and ramp closures” and the City of Frisco will announce each night’s closure as the information becomes available.
