Clear the clutter before school starts; next Chunk Your Junk happens August 13 

(August 4, 2011) Frisco Environmental Services’ next Chunk Your Junk (CYJ) event will be held on Saturday, August 13 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  If you have been working hard to de-clutter your life this summer, you may bring many items to be recycled, donated, or safely thrown away.

CYJ is held at the Environmental Collection Center, located at 6616 Walnut St. Entry is from southbound First Street. All other entries will be closed. Because of time restraints, the line will be cut off at 11:30 a.m. to make sure all waiting residents are serviced... view map.

Chunk Your Junk is an event for Frisco residents who have a utility billing account with the city, only. Items from those with commercial accounts, including apartment residents, are not accepted. 

You must show your Texas Driver’s License with your current Frisco address and most recent City of Frisco water bill to be able to use the free services provided at Chunk Your Junk.

While it is free to chunk most of your unwanted items, you will be charged to dispose of some electronics and appliances. There is a $40 Freon extraction fee for all appliances not tagged Freon-free, a $10 fee for computer monitors, and $15 fee for television sets. All applicable fees will be added directly to your next utility bill from the City of Frisco.

The following items are accepted at CYJ. To reduce idling time, the items are listed in the order which they can be unloaded at the event. Please load your vehicle accordingly.

· Documents for shredding
Four box limit per household, sizes not to exceed 12”W x 15.5” L x 10.5” H)

· Metal and appliances
  ($40 if not tagged Freon-free)

· Yard waste, limbs, and untreated wood for mulching

· Fencing and other trash

· Cardboard

· Styrofoam and plastic bags

· Refrigerators
  ($40 if not tagged Freon-free)

· Rx and over-the-counter medications

· Household chemicals, paint, gasoline, oil, batteries, pesticides

· Computers, printers, cell phones, television sets, and other e-waste
  ($10 per computer monitors, $15 per television set)

· Old clothes, furniture, books, etc. for donation.

Resident as also invited to drive by the Waterwise booth at CYJ and show us your old shower head to collect a free high-efficiency shower head. Water-saving shower heads use two gallons per minute or less and perform as well as older, less efficient models. They can also significantly help reduce your home’s indoor water usage, helping you be green while saving some green. Limit one per household while they last!
