Chunk Your Junk before the holidays 


(November 14, 2012) Clear out the clutter before your holiday guests arrive! The City of Frisco’s Environmental Services Division hosts the final Chunk Your Junk of the year this Saturday, November 17, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Frisco residents can recycle, donate, or safely throw away unwanted items.

Chunk Your Junk is held at the Environmental Collection Center, located at 6616 Walnut St. Entry is from southbound 1st Street only… view map. The line will close to vehicles at 11:30 a.m. to allow all those already waiting to be serviced by the time the event ends at noon. Commercial accounts are not accepted. Only residents with a City of Frisco utility billing account, may dispose of household hazardous waste items, computer monitors, televisions or refrigerators. Both a valid driver’s license showing your current Frisco address and a current Frisco water bill are required to dispose of all household chemical, paint, electronic waste, and items needing Freon extraction. 

All applicable fees will be billed directly to your Frisco utility billing account.  A $40 Freon extraction fee will be charged for all appliances not tagged Freon-free. There is a $10 fee to dispose of computer monitors and a $15 fee for television sets.

The following items can be brought for safe disposal, recycling, or donation during Chunk Your Junk. To reduce idling time, the items are listed in the order which they can be unloaded at the event. Please load your vehicle accordingly.

·  Documents for shredding;
   (Four-box limit per household, box size not to exceed 12”W x 15.5”L x 10.5”H)

·  Yard waste, limbs, and untreated wood;

·  Metal and appliances;

·  Items for trash;

·  Bundled cardboard;

·  Bagged Styrofoam and bagged plastic bags;

·  Prescription and over-the-counter medications

·  Household hazardous waste: chemicals, paint, gasoline, oil, batteries

·  Computers, printers, cell phones, television sets, and other e-waste;

·  Old clothes, furniture, books, etc. for donation.

Can’t make it out to Chunk Your Junk? Visit the Environmental Collection Center on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. See the list of items accepted at this link. Trash can be taken to the Custer Road Transfer Station, located at 9901 Custer Rd. in Plano. The facility is open Monday through Saturday from  8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take along your driver's license and a current Frisco water bill with matching address.
