Frisco's 2009 Champion Tree Competition Underway; Arborfest to be Held November 7 

(October 15, 2009) Where is the ‘most unique’ tree in Frisco?  The 2009 Champion Tree Competition is underway.  Winners will be announced during this year’s annual Arborfest Celebration on Saturday, November 7.  The event will be held at Frisco Commons Park, 8000 McKinney Road, beginning at 9 a.m.  Winners of the 2009 tree contest will receive plaques.  The celebration will conclude within the hour and end with the ceremonial tree planting. 

Categories for this year’s tree competition are black walnut and ‘most unique’ tree. All entries must be on private property and located within Frisco city limits.  Entry forms are available at the Frisco Parks & Recreation administrative offices, 6726 Walnut Street.  The deadline for contest entries is Friday, October 30 at 5 p.m.   

Arborfest is sponsored by the Frisco Urban Forestry Board and Parks and Recreation Department.
