GIS

What is GIS?
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an integrated system of computer hardware, software, and trained personnel that incorporate graphical features with tabular data in order to assess real world problems. A GIS system is capable of assembling, storing, manipulating, and displaying geographically referenced information, therefore allowing data to be identified according to it’s location in the real world. This is important because approximately 80 percent of data used by the city has spatial significance.
