The Environmental Services offices and the Environmental Collection Center will be CLOSED in observance of the Christmas and New Year's holidays on December 25-26 and on January 1.
The Environmental Collection Center will be open, however, on Christmas Eve (December 24, 2-5 p.m.) and on the Saturday following Christmas (December 27, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.). Residents are encouraged to drop off excess holiday recycling during these times.
HOLIDAY TREE RECYCLING
The City of Frisco provides curbside holiday tree recycling to all residents for their convenience.
All live trees collected will be "recycled" (made into compost and mulch).
Trees MUST comply with the following guidelines to ensure pickup:
DO place trees out on regular trash/recycling collection day, at edge of property, at least 3 feet from carts.
DO remove supports (metal and wood), electrical wiring, lights, tinsel, ornaments and all other decorations.
DO cut trees over 5 feet high into sections - no more than 4 feet in length or 60 lbs each.
DO NOT cover tree with a plastic bag, as this will prevent pickup.
FLOCKED TREES ARE NOT ACCEPTED. Flocked trees are sprayed with a chemical to look like they are covered with snow. The chemical component in flocking material prevents composting of these trees. Progressive will collect flocked trees according to rules of resident's free monthly bulk pickup. Call 972-292-5900 to arrange pickup.
HOLIDAY TREE DROP-OFF
A Self-Serve Drop Off service will be available at Environmental Services (6616 Walnut Street) beginning December 29. Residents may drop off live holiday trees during our open hours of Mon-Fri 8am-4pm. Guidelines for curbside pickup also apply to holiday tree drop off. Only natural live trees will be accepted - no flocked or artificial trees. Absolutely NO TRASH is allowed at the Environmental Services drop off site.
Do-It-Yourself Disposal for trees and extra holiday trash is also available at the Custer Road Transfer Station (9901 Custer Road in Plano). Residents may bring their driver's license and a matching, current copy of their Frisco water bill to receive up to two (2) free visits per month. Live, natural trees (not flocked) can be recycled at the Transfer Station, and flocked trees/artificial trees can be discarded as trash.
CHUNK YOUR JUNK
The next Chunk Your Junk will happen on Saturday, February 7. The event will take place from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Environmental Collection Center (6616 Walnut Street). Click here for a map to our location. Frisco residents with a utility billing account can donate, recycle or throw away common household items.
Did you know? Many of the same items can be disposed of at our Environmental Collection Center on Wed 2-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. To learn more about what we accept during open hours, click here.
YARD WASTE PICKUP
After August 1, yard waste will be collected on your regular service day alongside trash and recycling. If your yard waste is missed, please call 972-292-5900 or email us at EnvironmentalServices@FriscoTexas.gov. We will do our best to make sure it is collected.
REPORTING MISSED TRASH OR RECYCLING
If your trash or recycling is missed on your regular service day, please call or email us as soon as possible the following morning. It is less likely the Progressive drivers will be able to return to an area if misses are reported several days afterward.
