Southbound 1st Street closed between Frisco Square Blvd and Elm Street

(September 29, 2022) Southbound 1st St. will be closed between Frisco Square Blvd. and Elm St. starting today so the intersection at Elm St. can be reconstructed.  This lane closure is expected to remain in place for about a week at which time a different lane closure will be announced. During this lane closure, drivers wishing to go south on 1st St. can use 2nd St.as a detour (see attached map) Detour signs are posted.

Drivers are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to seek an alternate route in advance.

Use the Waze app to navigate around road closures: click here to learn about Waze or install it on your smartphone.

This is the first phase of the project that will reconstruct the entire length of Elm Street to create a concrete street with continuous gutters, parallel parking spaces, sidewalks, and street lighting. The street will typically be closed one block and one direction at a time as the project progresses.  Click here for more information regarding the Downtown Street Improvements Project.
