(February 3, 2022) Frisco Fire investigators say an overnight house fire started in a fireplace and quickly spread to the home’s attic.  Frisco firefighters were called to the 4100 block of San Gabriel Avenue in the Newman Village neighborhood at 9:17 p.m. on February 2, 2022.   Frisco firefighters arrived at 9:22 p.m.

“Flames could be seen from Eldorado Parkway, about a half mile away from the scene,” said Kelly Kistner, Frisco Fire Marshal.

Five engines, one ladder truck, and an ambulance as well as the department’s Rescue and Rehab units responded to the fire. The two residents, who were home when the fire broke out, called dispatch for help.  Kistner says the fire moved quickly from the firebox to the attic before breaching the roof.

“Fighting fire during freezing temperatures is always challenging and can cause fatigue,” said Kistner.   “But fortunately, no one was hurt.”

Firefighters say the fire was under control by 10:27 p.m. and extinguished at 11:57 p.m.

Investigators estimate the damages at approximately $900,000, which includes structure and contents.
