Variances

A “variance” is a request to appeal regulations set forth in the City’s Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. Variance requests typically involve such issues as setback requirements for houses and other buildings. Requests are submitted to the City’s Development Services Department. The requests are reviewed and acted upon by the Board of Adjustments, a City Council-appointed panel made up of five members and three alternates. The Board of Adjustments/Construction Board of Appeals meets on an as-needed basis at 6 pm the 4th Wednesday of the month.
