As a part of Keep Frisco Beautiful, Adopt-A-Street is a wonderful opportunity to teach others about citizenship, improve your community, and have a great time! The Adopt-a-Street program provides teams of all kinds: families, clubs, co-workers, and civic organizations, the opportunity to help beautify their community by volunteering to collect litter alongside Frisco streets. It's an easy way for groups to help the community, prevent pollution, and receive recognition for their work. Litter is unsightly and costly to tax payers. Volunteering for liter pick-up builds community and group pride, visibly improves your local environment, and saves tax payer money!
How Does Adopt-A-Street Work?
Teams agree to maintain a one mile stretch of roadway (in both directions and the median) for one year. Contracts are automatically renewed for teams in good standing. To resign your adopted street, contact the Adopt-A-Street coordinator, Julianah Marie.
Teams are conduct 5 (required) cleanups per year. Four quarterly cleanups and one during Clean It & Green It.
If a team is delinquent in their cleanups they will receive a 30 day notice to conduct a cleanup, return supplies and return forms to remain in the program. Teams who receive a second delinquent notice will have 10 days. If a delinquent team does not complete the make-up cleanup in the specified time, a new team will be eligible to adopt that street segment.
Teams can schedule their cleanup and request their supplies online. Environmental Services provides supplies needed for litter cleanup including: litter grabbers*, safety vests, gloves, trash bags, mini first aid kits, and hand sanitizer. *Subject to availability.
Reporting forms and waivers are attached to your team's supply bag. Prior to every cleanup, volunteers must sign the liability waiver (those under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign).
Within one week of completing a cleanup, teams must return their supplies and Reporting Form(PDF).
