Named the “Spirit of Frisco” in 2017 by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Tammy Meinershagen has been a resident of Frisco since 2004 and is the first Asian-American to serve on Frisco City Council. Tammy’s goal is to make Frisco the best place to live, work, play, and stay. Tammy is passionate about supporting arts, culture, and diversity in Frisco and creating Cultural Arts Districts to increase arts tourism. Tammy’s leadership and innovative work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, D CEO magazine, Korea Daily News, KERA, WFAA, and many local media outlets.
A professionally-trained pianist and violinist, Tammy served as Chair of the Frisco Arts Foundation and was the first Frisco recipient in 2019 of the distinguished Obelisk Award by the North Texas Business Council for the Arts for her transformative impact in the arts. As a member of the 2015 Citizen Bond Committee, Tammy spearheaded the successful $10 million bond initiative for the performing art center, served on the Public Art Board from 2016-2018, and founded Stonebriar Centre’s holiday music program, “Sounds of the Season,” offering shoppers free musical cheer by local talent every December.
In 2012, Tammy became the first Diversity Chair for the FISD Council of PTA’s, creating innovative ways to celebrate the cultural diversity of our city’s student population. She launched new programs like the Multicultural Minute, now adopted by multiple elementary schools, and organized the first multicultural float in the Frisco Community Parade, a tradition that continues to showcase Frisco’s cultural diversity every year.
As a former public school teacher and homeschool mom, Tammy has a heart for education and served on the Advisory Boards of Legacy Christian Academy and Leadership Prep School, as well as a mentor for the Frisco ISD Business Incubator program and Independent Study/Mentorship program. Tammy is also a member of the Orchid Giving Circle through the Texas Women’s Foundation, giving over $1 million in grants to Asian-American causes in North Texas.
Tammy is Chief Innovation Officer and Managing Partner at Blackshaw Partners, a retained executive search firm. Tammy leads the firm’s Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Practice, Brand Strategy, and Client Engagement in North Texas.
Originally from Chicago, IL and a graduate of Northwestern University, Tammy and her husband Todd reside in Frisco and have three beautiful girls, all in the creative sector. In her spare time, Tammy likes to play her violin and piano, which she considers her two oldest friends.
